Lezo Recognized as Most Responsive LGU In Implementing RRP-CCAM-DRR Project

The Local Government Unit of Lezo was recognized by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office 6 as the most responsive local government unit in the implementation of the Risk Resiliency Program- Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation- Disaster Risk Reduction (RRP-CCAM-DRR) projects in the the province of Aklan.

Mrs. Wenna Mae B. Manares, MSWD receives the Certificate of Recognition from DSWD signed by Regional Director Atty. Carmelo N. Nochete, during the RRP.CCAM-DRR Implementers Consultation Meeting held at Kalibo, Aklan.

The RRP-CCAM-DRR is a DSWD national program which aims to strengthen the resiliency of both natural systems and the urban built environment, as well as reinforce the adaptive capacities of vulnerable groups and communities in the country.

RRP-CCAM-DRR through its Cash-for-Work (CFW) programs in the area has served 1,000 beneficiaries in the Municipality which were utilized to participate in various community or group undertakings, which are related to disaster mitigation, risk reduction or rehabilitation.

Mrs. Manares expressed her thanks to the DSWD FO6 for the recognition and also congratulated the Municipal RRP-CCAM-DRR Technical Working Group headed by Mayor Mary Lenette R. Fernandez and the members of the TWG including the officials of twelve (12) barangays who willingly supported the implementation of the DSWD project.(Ernan T. Baldomero)
