Lezo Celebrates Women’s Month with Gender Advocacy Parade and Zumba for All

Lezo, Aklan – The Municipality of Lezo joined the celebration of Women’s Month on March 8 this year, with the theme “We for Gender Equality and Inclusive Society”, #WecanbeEquAll, and 2023 1 Billion Rising #RiseforFreedom. The Local Government Unit of Lezo, headed by Mayor Mary Lenette R. Fernandez, together with Municipal Officials, and employees, barangays, and schools conducted a Gender Advocacy Parade and held a program at the Saturnino G. Fernandez Memorial Sports and Cultural Center in Poblacion, Lezo, Aklan, followed by Zumba for All.

The Gender Advocacy Parade aimed to raise awareness and promote gender equality and women’s empowerment. It was attended by the Municipal Officials, employees, and barangay officials and residents, who all showed their support for the cause. The parade started at HL Gasoline Station in Brgy. Bagto, Lezo, Aklan and went through the major streets of the municipality.

After the parade, the program was held at the Saturnino G. Fernandez Memorial Sports and Cultural Center. It featured speeches from Mayor Fernandez and other local officials, who highlighted the importance of gender equality and women’s empowerment in creating an inclusive society. The program also included cultural performances and presentations from schools and community organizations.

To cap off the celebration, Zumba for All was conducted, where everyone was invited to join in the fun and energetic dance workout. The activity aimed to promote health and wellness and encourage everyone to stay active and physically fit.

This year’s Women’s Month celebration in Lezo is in line with the national theme of “We for Gender Equality and Inclusive Society” as well as the call to action of the 2023 1 Billion Rising campaign #RiseforFreedom. These initiatives aim to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment, and encourage everyone to take action towards creating a more inclusive and just society.

The Municipality of Lezo is committed to promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment, and will continue to implement programs and activities that support this cause. Mayor Fernandez hopes that this year’s Women’s Month celebration will inspire everyone to work towards creating a better future for women and girls, not just in Lezo but in the whole country.
