Due to the rising cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the country, the national government has implemented community quarantines to limit the movement of the people in order to stop the spread of the pandemic.
However, this also resulted in many residents of Lezo becoming stranded from other provinces as well as those who are working abroad. Because of this, the national government has issued guidelines to regulate the going home of repatriated overseas Filipino workers (ROFWs) and locally stranded individuals (LSI).
The LGU has provided quarantine facilities for ROFWs in Kalibo while constructing or establishing quarantine facilities in the barangays in case the existing facilities are fully booked or the allotted funding for the renting of these facilities has run out.
Likewise, the LGU through the Municipal Health Office has been implementing a strict 14-day home quarantine for returning LSIs and the barangays have been required to utilize their barangay quarantine facilities in case the LSI has no qualified home to be quarantine to.
The provincial government of Aklan through Governor Florencio T. Miraflores has issued an executive order No. 2020-029-B that stipulates the requirements for returning LSI to wit:
- Travel Authority from Task Force COVID Shield (being issued by a city or municipal police station)
- Health Certificate from Municipal Health Office (Until July 23 only)
- Negative RT-PCR (swab test) result issued by DOH-accredited testing laboratory (starting July 23) (good for 7 days upon issuance)
- Certificate of Acceptance from Municipal Mayor
LGU Lezo requires the LSI or their families to coordinate with the barangays and MHO to check the residence where they would be quarantined before they can be issued an acceptance from the Municipal Mayor.
